Barabote is an associate teaching professor in the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Pathobiology and Integrative Biomedical Sciences. Since 2021, he has served as the primary academic advisor for the undergraduate microbiology program, advising over 150 students in that timeframe.

His dedication to student advising has been acknowledged multiple times. In 2026, he received the Excellence in Advising Award from the Mizzou Advisors Forum and the Office of the Provost. Additionally, Barabote was honored with the Mizzou Advisors Forum’s Shout Out Award in 2024 for his outstanding contributions to undergraduate advising.

Barabote's advising philosophy extends beyond course selection. He engages with students to review their degree progress, identify relevant opportunities aligned with their aspirations, and connect them with necessary campus resources. His efforts significantly enhance the student experience at the College of Veterinary Medicine, furthering its commitment to academic success.
