Officials from the shelter report an overflowing nursery filled with young cats that require regular feeding, leading to rapid depletion of their supplies. They specifically noted a shortage of canned kitten food, dry kitten food, and toys as more litters arrive.

In a social media post, the shelter stated, “We’re running very low on kitten food while our kitten population continues to grow,” emphasizing that donations are critical to providing necessary care until the kittens are adopted.

The organization welcomes kitten food donations from any reputable brand, which can be delivered directly to the shelter or purchased via the online wish lists found on their website. They also encouraged community members to share their appeal to help attract more supporters.

The nonprofit operates the Dare County Animal Shelter in Manteo, caring for hundreds of homeless and abandoned animals annually.

Community members can drop off donations at the Outer Banks SPCA located at 378 Airport Road in Manteo or buy items through their Amazon and Chewy wish lists available on the organization’s donation page.

Further information about adoptable animals, including kittens, cats, and dogs, is also accessible on the OBX SPCA website.
