To qualify, individuals must be on active duty, in reserves, have an honorable discharge, or be service-disabled veterans. Spouses of military members serving outside New York State may also adopt pets if they present a military spouse identification card. Participants will need to show a Military ID or DD214 to take advantage of the waived fees, which can be applied to a total of two animals.
Adoption hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, although the SPCA will be closed on Sunday, November 8. Potential adoptions must begin by 5 p.m. Some restrictions may apply regarding the If The Fur Fits trial adoptions. For any questions, interested parties can contact SPCA Adoptions Supervisor Julia Kiblin at (716) 875-7360, ext. 235.
The SPCA extends gratitude to Moog for sponsoring the event, which aims to foster beneficial connections between veterans and pets, promoting healing and companionship.
