When firefighters arrived, they found a white van that had come to rest in the water near large rocks. The driver had managed to exit the vehicle with one dog, but a second dog remained inside. Firefighters, along with California State Parks Lifeguards, accessed the vehicle, successfully freeing the trapped dog and bringing it back to the roadway.

Emergency responders confirmed that neither dog appeared to be injured. The driver was taken to the hospital in stable condition with minor injuries. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
