Donna Schmid, Founder of Humanitarians of Florida, Reflects on a Lifelong Commitment to Cat Rescue

Donna Schmid, known for her deep dedication to cat rescue, is facing terminal illness as she looks back on her impactful four-decade journey as a “cat lady.” Her passion for rescuing felines began in her early childhood. Schmid founded the Humanitarians of Florida veterinary clinic and spent many Sunday afternoons at the Pet Supermarket in Inverness, where she cared for her Hardin Haven cat rescue kittens and sought to find them loving homes.
