Anna Cox, the practice director at Townsend Vets, noted that many pet owners are often unaware of the prevalence of dental disease in older pets. "Dogs and cats are very good at hiding discomfort, which means dental problems can be present long before obvious signs develop," she explained.

The free dental checks include an oral examination, home care advice, dietary recommendations, and treatment options if necessary. Pet owners will also receive a dental gift bag that includes a bag of Hill’s dental food and a £10 voucher towards future dental food purchases.

Cox emphasized the importance of these assessments, stating, "Every week we see pets whose quality of life has been affected by dental disease, yet their owners had no idea there was a problem. That's why we're encouraging owners to take advantage of these free assessments, so we can identify any concerns early and help pets stay healthy and comfortable."
