The facility is named after Dash Goff, who contributed $1 million to the College of Veterinary Medicine. Goff is known as a notable thoroughbred horse owner and breeder, and his father, Gene Goff, was the owner and breeder of the celebrated racehorse Nodouble.
Dr. Heidi Banse, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, expressed gratitude for Goff's commitment to the college and its students. "We are grateful to Dash Goff for his strong commitment to our College of Veterinary Medicine, our Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students, and the future of the veterinary profession in Arkansas," Banse stated.
The center will serve as a hands-on training facility for students, featuring laboratories for working with horses, including areas for hoof care and ultrasound. It includes eight equine stocks, three stalls, and an equipment storage room, designed to enhance training in equine restraint and procedural skills.
Banse emphasized, "The Dash Goff Equine Center – Nodouble Barn is key to delivering our competency-based veterinary curriculum, ensuring we can train our veterinary students to effectively serve the needs of horses, trainers, and owners upon graduation."
In addition, inside the barn, a plaque honors Dr. Doyne Hamm, the Goff family's veterinarian for several years. The racehorse Nodouble, known as the "Arkansas Traveler," won the Arkansas Derby in 1968 and later set national track racing records.
