Foster Kitten Gelato Receives Custom Wheelchair for Mobility

A foster kitten named Gelato in Cincinnati, Ohio, is winning over internet users with his innovative way of moving around. Cincinnati Animal CARE shared a photo of Gelato on Facebook, showcasing a custom wheelchair designed by the shelter’s lead veterinary technician, Mallory Smith, which has enabled him to walk.

When Gelato arrived at Cincinnati Animal CARE, he was unable to stand or walk and was too small for any existing wheelchairs. In response to his condition, Smith crafted a unique solution using cardboard, rulers, Hot Wheels, and tape.

The shelter reported that Gelato is already showing improvement, stating, "Gelato is getting stronger every day and is even starting to stand for little moments on his own!" The post highlights that each small step is a significant milestone in his recovery journey. Gelato remains in foster care with Smith, who is dedicated to helping him regain his strength.
