Javy Pagan, the marketing manager for the Greenville Humane Society, expressed gratitude for the community's support, noting, "We have a wonderful community who supports us. We have people who come from other states who follow our social media to pick up pets that need help." Pagan highlighted that Cotton's unique story and the goodbye letters from the children prompted the organization to honor the family's wishes in finding him a suitable home.

The wish was fulfilled when Cotton was adopted by a new owner, who excitedly shared that the entire neighborhood is planning a celebration to welcome him home.
