Soong expressed deep sadness and outrage over the incident, emphasizing the importance of every life. He confirmed that fellow volunteers would report the matter to police and that the organization would fully cooperate with the investigation. Three stray dogs were discovered dead early on Saturday, September 26, at approximately 7:30 a.m. Authorities suspect poisoning, marking a troubling first occurrence in the area.
Soong urged the public not to resort to vigilante actions regarding stray animals, recommending that they report any issues to the Ipoh City Council or relevant non-governmental organizations. Such reporting can act as a deterrent to potential offenders. He also suggested gathering evidence to aid in legal action against those responsible.
Looking ahead, Soong mentioned that the ISPCA would persist in advocating for the reintroduction of Trap, Neuter, Release, Manage (TNRM) programs, noting that local shelters are currently overcrowded and unable to take in more dogs. Without effective implementation of the TNRM program, he warned that the stray dog situation in Ipoh will deteriorate further.
