Vaccination will be free for the entire month of September 2026, after which a fee will be instituted. Chief Veterinary Officer Emmanuel Alledje-Kadjo emphasized the importance of annual vaccinations for pets. In the event of animal bites or scratches, he advised immediate medical attention and reporting the incident to a veterinary center.
To enhance awareness, the campaign will utilize educational content disseminated through schools, religious groups, traditional and social media, and community meetings. Materials will be available in local languages including Twi, Ga, Ewe, and Hausa. The Veterinary Services Department stresses that pet owners who do not vaccinate their animals may be in violation of local regulations and is calling on local communities and organizations to aid the campaign by supplying resources and spreading information.
