YORK COUNTY, Pa. — In an alarming hoarding situation, Castaway Critters rescued eight cats from a residence in Glen Rock, York County, where they encountered hazardous conditions including roaches, bed bugs, mice, and fleas. The organization reported that more than 20 cats were living in dire circumstances, and despite their efforts, they were unable to save over 10 cats that had already perished.

Castaway Critters announced the rescue via Facebook, describing the scene as akin to the aftermath of a natural disaster, with debris and garbage strewn throughout the home. The severe ammonia odor necessitated the use of special respirators and HAZMAT suits for the rescue workers.
Among the rescued animals was a two-day-old kitten, noted to be the sole survivor of her litter. The organization is appealing for financial support and additional foster care providers, as each cat requires varying degrees of medical attention.
