As summer transitions to fall, changing climate conditions are contributing to longer periods of tick activity and increasing pollen levels, leading to a year-round demand for parasiticides and dermatology products in the pet health market. This shift has resulted in a significant increase in tick-related emergency room visits, with 2026 marking the highest number recorded since the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) started tracking these data in 2017.

Elanco's President and CEO Jeff Simmons emphasized that the company's innovative products are increasing the standard of care in response to these health threats. Elanco's strong first half of the year reflects the success of new products that have gained traction in the market, contributing to an acceleration in year-over-year price gains for the U.S. Pet Health business.

The report notes that tick populations are rising due to milder winters and warmer springs, with ticks becoming a common risk factor that can affect household safety. Bobby Modi, Executive Vice President of U.S. Pet Health, highlighted that the proximity of pets to family members increases the urgency for effective tick control solutions.

In the first half of 2026, Elanco's U.S. Pet Health revenue grew 9% year-over-year. The demand for innovative products is boosting market share across major categories such as dermatology, parasiticides, and vaccines. The adoption of Credelio Quattro clinics has also seen an increase, adding around 1,100 clinics this quarter.

With parasite seasons extending, Elanco is enhancing compliance through home delivery and auto-ship programs, which reportedly have increased compliance rates significantly. Elanco forecasts continued strong growth in the second half of 2026, partly driven by effective innovation and bolstered by a robust performance in both U.S. and international markets.

Simmons expressed confidence in Elanco’s ability to navigate the evolving pet health landscape, stating, "As 'tick and itch season' expands, our innovations are not only addressing real-life problems for pet owners but also driving our overall business growth." Elanco aims to create sustainable value for its customers and shareholders amid these market dynamics.
