Mama Cat and Kittens Rescued After Being Abandoned Outside Frankenmuth Shelter

Abby Kreger, executive director of the rescue, began searching the area upon discovering the empty box. Initially, the team was unaware of how many cats were missing. "We didn’t know where they were. We just knew there was an empty box," Kreger said. After some searching, she located one kitten, leading her to continue the search.

Kreger eventually found three kittens and their mother, named Rebel. Unsure if they had found the entire family, a live trap was set, which caught another kitten later identified as not belonging to Rebel. This kitten, now called Rogue, will be cared for separately while adjusting to humans.

Rebel and her kittens are currently safe at Pet Angel. Kreger noted that Rebel has shown a nurturing instinct and is very affectionate. "The ideal home for her will be somebody who has the ability to give her a lot of affection," Kreger said.

The kittens are beginning to exhibit their own personalities. Once they receive necessary veterinary care and are old enough, they will be available for adoption. Kreger remains optimistic about their future. "Cats are very resilient. In a couple months, they’re going to completely forget that any of this happened," she said.

In addition to rescuing Rebel and her family, Pet Angel is working to assist another group of feral cats found outside the shelter. The organization intends to trap and support these cats while also raising funds for security upgrades and additional rescue efforts.
