In his opening remarks, Paul Martingell, CEO of Virbac, emphasized that aging should be seen as a milestone rather than a decline in quality of life. He expressed the company’s commitment to support veterinarians and pet owners in ensuring that every senior cat receives specialized and attentive care, maintaining its vitality and comfort.
Five international speakers presented findings in five key areas of action: early diagnosis, endocrinology, renal care and nutrition, mobility, and prevention. Virbac aims to improve early detection, integrate treatments to better manage comorbidities, and mitigate stress associated with care. Notably, data indicated that 90% of cats over 12 years old may suffer from osteoarthritis, one-third may be affected by chronic kidney disease, up to 10% of cats over 9 years could develop hyperthyroidism, and 40% of owners face challenges in administering treatments.
