PUYALLUP, Wash. — An animal cruelty investigation is currently underway following the seizure of 17 pets from a home in Puyallup without a kennel license. According to county regulations, households are generally limited to five combined dogs and cats. Owners intending to keep more than this number are required to obtain additional licensing or permits. The sheriff’s office emphasized the importance of understanding and adhering to licensing and animal welfare requirements when operating rescues or caring for a large number of animals, to ensure adequate care, including sufficient space, food, water, and shelter.
Upon arrival, Animal Control discovered 15 dogs, two of which were injured, confined to small crates within a garage, lacking access to food or water. It appeared that some dogs may have been crated for extended periods. In a second garage, two cats were found in similar conditions, also without access to food or water, and reportedly without proper sustenance for five days.
The pets were removed from the property on September 22 and taken to a licensed rescue organization, where they will receive proper care and medical attention.
