The Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) of Mississippi collaborates with the university’s Shelter Medicine Program to spay or neuter dogs and cats before they are put up for adoption. However, a recent veterinary trip was canceled after a hose blew on their transport bus, known as “Bessie the Bus,” causing a spill of transmission fluid and coolant.

The bus was subsequently towed by Ward’s Wrecker Service to Tony’s Tire and Automotive for necessary repairs. ARF estimates the cost of the tow and repairs to be around $3,000 and is requesting assistance from supporters to help cover this expense. The organization hopes to have the bus back in service soon to reschedule future veterinary trips.
