Inspired by the BBC series Race Across the World, the couple will attempt to travel as far as possible in 10 hours without spending any money, relying on the kindness of strangers and their resourcefulness.
Brown stated, "We’ll be busking folk music, shaking our buckets, haggling with bus drivers and hitchhiking our way around the country."
Supporters can track their journey on social media and donate via their JustGiving page. After reaching their initial fundraising goal of £200, they have decided to extend their challenge to 20 hours. If they reach £500, they plan to continue for a full 30 hours.
Brown emphasized that their team is completely volunteer-based and relies on donations. "Every pound raised will go towards neutering, fostering, and life-saving operations for cats in Oxfordshire," she highlighted.
Cats Protection plays a crucial role in providing care for cats, including a 10-week-old kitten named Pluto, who underwent surgery to remove an injured eye at a cost of £500. The Oxford & District branch is affiliated with Cats Protection, which is the leading cat welfare charity in the UK.
The charity aids approximately 191,000 cats and kittens yearly through 182 volunteer teams and 31 cat centres. Donations to support their fundraiser can be made at justgiving.com/page/rachael-brown-1785253875199.
