Kahekili, a three-year-old dog at the Maui Humane Society, showcased a sweeter side during a recent outing with volunteer Cassondra Christman. While in Christman's car, the rescue pup nestled up against her arm, visibly relaxed and fighting off sleep. Eventually, he dozed off, demonstrating the comfort he felt outside of the kennel environment.

Christman noted that Kahekili often waits at the shelter door for visitors or treats, but once outside, he transforms into a gentle cuddler. In a video shared online, he leans into Christman, with captions expressing his struggle to stay awake before he succumbs to sleep on her arm.
According to Christman, Kahekili has shown compatibility with female dogs, although she recommends proper introductions, as his exposure to male dogs has been limited. Adoption to the mainland U.S. is feasible, with travel costs ranging from $1,000 to $1,500 depending on location. Adoptions to other Hawaiian islands are also an option.
Social media users quickly responded to the heartwarming video, expressing their affection for the sleepy dog and hoping for his adoption. Comments ranged from appreciation of his looks to encouragements about his need for a family.
