During an adoption event held on Saturday at Tractor Supply in Middletown, the organization's founder, Marissa Beaulieu, highlighted the growing need. "It’s so important to do this because we’re in a major animal crisis right now," Beaulieu stated, noting that the situation is exacerbated by the abandonment of cats as people move.
Beaulieu explained that the rise in abandoned animals has been linked to the post-pandemic phase, where many individuals who adopted pets during lockdowns later relinquished them. Additionally, she pointed out the lack of accessible low-cost spay and neuter services as a significant issue contributing to this crisis. "We don’t have low cost spay/neuter readily available to a lot of people or to our rescues," she said.
Furever Cat Angels is set to host its next adoption event on Saturday, August 22, at The Coffee Spot in Simsbury.
