Veterinarians and veterinary students from Washington State University have helped prepare 66 horses for adoption after they were rescued from a neglect case in Latah County. These horses were seized on June 5 and initially cared for at the Lewiston Livestock Market. Upon arrival, many were underweight and in need of proper nutrition and medical care.

A veterinary team from WSU dedicated approximately 10 hours to this effort, administering vaccinations, deworming treatments, microchipping, and conducting general health assessments. Throughout the summer, the horses received ongoing treatment and were nurtured back to health under the care of Horse & Halo and the Idaho Animal Rescue Network.
The WSU College of Veterinary Medicine has reported that nearly all of the horses were successfully adopted into new homes following the team's intervention.
