A black-and-white kitten named Ford was rescued after he was found climbing into a car engine in Yarcombe. It is believed he is the offspring of a feral cat.

A member of the public spotted Ford and safely captured him until he was picked up by Cats Protection Honiton & Axe Valley. Heidi Cruickshank, Ford’s volunteer fosterer, described him as a sweet kitten, quieter than his siblings, Winnow and Knap.
Cruickshank noted that Ford is recovering from the experience but enjoys playing, especially chasing a ball. The kittens needed extra care to adjust from their mother’s milk to solid food and are now learning essential skills, such as using a litter box and how to engage in play-hunting.
All three kittens have received veterinary care and were found to be in good health aside from ticks and worms. They will soon be ready for adoption; currently, they are eight weeks old. Ford has been reunited with his siblings, who had also been rescued.
Their mother, a white cat with tortoiseshell markings, has been frequently moving her litters around the village. Cruickshank expressed a desire to capture the mother cat. She is wary of humans but if captured, she could be neutered to prevent further pregnancies, which would also reduce her risk of disease associated with mating.
