Adoption Event Set for October 17 in Buckhannon

Organized by LUV 4 Animals in collaboration with Jenkins Subaru and Lewis-Upshur Animal Control, the event will feature reduced adoption fees: $50 for dogs and $25 for cats. However, the organizers aim to provide visitors a chance to connect with the animals beyond the lower prices.

Volunteers will assist attendees in spending quality time with the animals, allowing potential adopters to walk dogs, interact with cats, and better understand their individual personalities. "Sometimes you just can’t see who a dog or cat really is from a picture or through a kennel door," said Jen Kesling from LUV 4 Animals. She expressed the goal of letting visitors experience the animals’ true natures, highlighting their loving and playful sides.

All adoptions are coordinated through Lewis-Upshur Animal Control, and small giveaways will be available for adopters. A representative from Jenkins Subaru will join the event festivities.

This event is part of the Subaru Loves Pets initiative. LUV 4 Animals received a $4,000 grant from Jenkins Subaru, administered by the ASPCA, to support the adoption event and other local animal welfare efforts.

Additionally, free rabies and DHPP vaccination vouchers will be provided, although vaccinations will not be administered on-site during the event. Instead, vouchers can be picked up the following week at Jen Kesling State Farm Insurance or the Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce at normal business hours.

Those wishing to contribute without adopting can support LUV 4 Animals or Lewis-Upshur Animal Control through donations of pet supplies or monetary contributions. Updates about the adoption event and available animals will be posted on the LUV 4 Animals Facebook page leading up to the event.
